I am a widower. I lost my wife to Cancer at the age of 31. I am now trying to rebuild my career and return to what I love. But, I might have a little bit of an issue build ing the same poertfolio I would if I still had access to all my statisics and charts and tables. I will try to keep it short'ish

I was hired back in 2015, rifght out of college, (MSU) with my bachelor degree in CIS.

I was entering a entire indusrty, that at the time, I knew very little adout the Distribution Center operations, or what all technologies were involved. As for the customer, all I knew was the basic stuff. Like, they had never expected "us", (ie: SSI Schaefer), to still be needed on-site 10 years later, in 2015. But regardless we were there, and I was hired. (Yay!)

As you can imagine entering into a large scale fully automated warehouse envinronment that had been up and running 10 years prior to my arrival, so there were very few problems / bugs that were in need of being addressed. Being the new guy, I asked about the "OS" and what went on there? Because it seemed like no one wanted, or knew, how to even go about attempting to making any improvements to what was taking place on a daily basis.

What was this problem you ask?

There is a whole bunch of processes and microservices and actions taken by the "ANT" system in order to retriev and then order all the products onto the propper shipping line, in the correct order before heading to a truck trailer to get loaded.

In a final checkpoint, called an Observation Station (OS), Vision would take a picture on the item that was inside the OS on the belt and Vision would run a set of algorithms in attempts at determining, pass or fail, in regards to the package being the correct one expected to be there.

That part, in theroy, was operating, more or less, as intended. However, there were always a hand full of products, like bottled watter, a few different candy bar boxes, and Mike and Ikes that would continously fail at the OS when in fact it should not have failed. And then on the other side there were occasional wrong packages getting through that should not have.

So that was where I sunk myself into and started reverse engineering what was happening inside the OS. I would usePL/SQL and pull from the Database using a custom queries that would make the data set much easier to understand. After I injested the data, and started to gain an understanding, I would then make an informed desicion as to what to adjust to see if there is any improvement on the success rate of the given product.

All this is well and good, but keep in mind that at the time i was doing this, it was 2016-2021 and AI was not even out of it's diapers yet in regards to it's adoption or growth. No one even thought to call Vision anything but Vision. I loved what I was doing so much and had been reporting to the invetory side of the customer what was happening in order to help him deal with missing stock and invetory issues.

The story goes much deeper then what I can realalisticlly tell you, but my issue is I now need access to all of the documents and historical info that shows just how much of an impact that I made was on the problem items. I am not sure how to proceed as I do not talk with any of my former co-workers from there, however I am trying to build a proof of work portfolio and I am not sure exactly how to proceed? For now I just finished a contract gig for a major hospital here, that is transitioning to a new platform healthcare CRM plartform. I currently am looking for a entry-level roll in to the AI field where I actually have multipkle years of experience in tunning. adjusting, monitoring, recording, (or the Demming cycle: Plan, Do, Check, Act, repeat) I apperciate any thoughts or advice on the situation.
