In a moment of inspiration, I took the program home, made some adjustments, and presented it to the programmer the next day. Reluctantly, they embraced the changes, and the payroll checks began to print. This act of ingenuity opened doors, leading to a job offer.
Yet, despite consistently conquering challenging projects, a pattern of unfulfilled recognition while others were getting promoted over me lingered throughout my career. Perplexed, I confronted my boss, seeking answers. With a straightforward gaze, he admitted, "because we did not think you wanted it."
