IBM has changed my life forever!

This Christmas I want to thank IBM for changing my life forever and in a way that I could never have imagined. I started this year wanting to immerse myself in the world of technology but to be honest, topics like artificial intelligence or cyber security were not something that caught my attention because I thought that these were areas that only very qualified people could learn. However, you showed me that this was not necessarily true and that everyone could immerse themselves in these exciting subjects.

Throughout this year I learned why many of your employees and interns call your company "the learning company", and what I admire is that you carry that philosophy even outside your company.

Your courses at Coursera are incredible, as well as your courses offered on your own platforms such as CognitiveClass, Design Thinking, The IBM Garage method, etc.

How it all started.

At the beginning of this year I remember that you offered the IBM Data Science course for free and I just knowing the concept of "Data Science" decided to register out of curiosity and to learn more. In just a few months I had applied my programming skills in exciting projects analyzing data and training machine learning models, while learning the huge field of data science and how it influences our society.

That first approach to that trend of technology was something that marked my life and I realized that it was something that I really liked and that I wanted to continue learning more. Not only that, I discovered that the area of programming was not only limited to the development of programs (which is something I also like) but that there are other emerging fields that are worth being aware of.

During those dates you made a conference talking about artificial intelligence, data science and ethics, and invited the respected investor Roger McNamee who, together with you, gave the participants his successful book Zucked which makes us reflect on how artificial intelligence directed by an irresponsible mind can manipulate and influence millions of people without them realizing it.

The role of CodeDoor.

CodeDoor opened the door for me to this incredible platform and its excellent content. I had already heard about CodeDoor some time ago when I saw it mentioned along with ReDI School in an article highlighting the work of both organizations. Since then I have not stopped learning. Thanks to this platform I have learned about Blockchain technology (I find very striking the projects developed by the Hyperledger community), quantum computing, the Internet of things, cognitive computing, the cyber security job market, etc. Thanks to CodeDoor I'm learning Full Stack Web Development and right now I'm finishing my final project to be reviewed.

Additionally, I have continued to deepen in the topics that interest me and expanding my capabilities and tools as a future developer (one of the courses that I am enjoying very much is the DevOps aspire journey, without a doubt it is one of the best training plans in this area that I have seen). I have also strengthened my soft skills to grow as a person and become a potential employee who can contribute much more to any company.

More learning opportunities.

You brought quantum computing to my attention to such an extent that I applied to the course taught by The Coding School and sponsored by IBM Quantum called Introduction to Quantum Computing where I was accepted and am happily learning at a very convenient and mostly flexible pace.

To close this long message...

I want to thank again IBM and its partners and of course CodeDoor for providing me with so many learning opportunities and for allowing me to get to know many exciting areas of the world of technology that I was not aware of and that now I would love to work in the future. You don't really know the enormous career path you have given my life and I can never express my appreciation for that.

Happy holidays to all!
